As a freshman last year, Emily Petersen averaged 11 minutes and three points a game. Fans and coaches were hopeful that with a young roster this season, Petersen would be able to fulfill a leadership and experience role for the incoming freshman.
An ankle injury sidelined Petersen for the entire offseason, and most of this season as well.
Returning from injury on Jan. 30, against Peru State, Petersen is trying to balance playing heavy minutes with also getting back to normal game speed.
Omaha News Sports Reporter Ray Koch talked to Petersen about the rehab process, and how her journey back has been both mentally and physically.
