Last year, senior first baseman Braden Rogers led the Mavericks in batting average at .280 in his first year at Omaha. This year, Rogers is expected to be a leader to a team with a lot of new faces that is hoping to compete for a Summit League title.
Rogers and the Mavs are off to a 8-5-1 start to the season after sweeping Santa Clara this past weekend. Though the team has yet to play a home game, the Mavericks have already accomplished a lot so far in their 2019 campaign. They knocked off USC, who has 12 national championships, in a 12-9 game on February 17.
Omaha Sports Reporter Ray Koch sat down with Rogers to talk about the weather here in Omaha, what the win at USC meant to the team and what he thinks this team can accomplish in his senior campaign.
