Stocks n Bonds brings a taste of Wall Street to the community

With thumping music and a teeming dance floor, Omaha just got its very own Wall Street.

Stocks n Bonds, a restaurant and nightclub in what was previously Brewsky’s, opened in November with the hopes of bringing a taste of Wall Street to the community.

The theme of the bar is unlike any other in Omaha, owner Randy Charf said. With money decor and green lighting, Charf said he wanted the space to be unique.

“It’s just a great place to come and have fun,” he said.

When Charf saw the available space, he knew it was his chance to further develop the theme of a bar he once visited in Boston in the late 1980s.

The bar in Boston had the same name and overall atmosphere, but Charf wanted to put his own twist on things, he said.

“This place became available and I kind of just went with it,” he said.

Stocks n Bonds offers a full menu including pizza, burgers, nachos and steak to go with it is a signature drink — the money melon.

Like the other bars he owns, Bushwacker’s Saloon & Dance Hall and Chrome Lounge, Stocks n Bonds offers the money melon, a vodka cocktail that tastes like watermelon.

Gordie Zealand, the nightclub general manager, said it’s also the music and technology that makes Stocks n Bonds standout from the rest. While DJs are mixing, music videos are played on the screens mounted on the walls.

“It sets us apart from any place in Omaha,” Zealand said. “People really think it’s unique and they like it.”

The nightclub also regularly features live bands such as a Neil Diamond tribute band that is set to perform on June 15.

Charf and Zealand like to refer to Stocks n Bonds as an “entertainment factory” because of the size and all that it has to offer.

“It’s bigger and we are generating fun like a factory,” Charf said.

The Omaha community has been welcoming and for that, Zealand said, they would like to show the people a good time.

“We would like to give back to the Papillion, La Vista and Ralston communities,” he said. “They have been so supportive.”

Though the songs take listeners back to MTV music videos days, the nightclub welcomes all ages to join in the fun.

From early 20s to late 60s, Charf said a wide range of customers file though the doors.

“There’s something for every age,” Charf said.

Stocks n Bonds, 8528 Park Drive, is open Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. and can be reached at 402-417-2484.
