6-year-old with cerebral palsy embarks on road to recovery

By Donald Kellum

6-year-old Wyatt Fisher has cerebral palsy. After receiving a selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery, which involves cutting nerves in this spine to reduce high muscle tone in his legs, he is now doing extensive therapy at Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) with physical therapist Marne Iwand.

After his surgery, Wyatt had to lay flat for three days. Now Wyatt is regaining motion in his legs and relearning how to be mobile again by walking with his walker, riding his custom-made bike and climbing stairs.
