As your time here at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) comes to an end, it becomes time to start thinking about what type of preparation is needed for graduation. To help students complete those steps all at one time, the UNO Bookstore invited students who are graduating to the UNO Bookstore’s Graduation Expo.
“It’s a super easy process for students! Check-in at our booth at the front door and… You will be handed a checklist to make sure you stop at all of the necessary booths to pick up your cap and gown, purchase any diplomas and gifts that will be on sale,” said Casandra Brindisi, marketing and graphic design coordinator at the Milo Bail Student Center.
Vendors like ACDC, the Commencement team, First National Bank and Graduate Studies were all present at UNO’s Spring 2019 Graduation Expo. Not only could graduates pick-up their cap and gown for the ceremony, but they could get their resumes reviewed, go over loan information and ask questions about commencement and what they could do to further their education.
Meanwhile, Jostens, the biggest vendor at the event, sold class rings, fine jewelry, diploma frames, uplomas and announcements.
The Graduation Expo is always looking for ways to offer new resources to students graduating from UNO.
Winter Smith, UNO alumna and GM coordinator for the Milo Bail Student Center said, “We always try to include something different. Last year we had alumni services here and they had a wheel to spin to win prizes…But, this year we have the resume gal from ACDC, which is really great.”
With so many great vendors and resources for students, the Graduation Expo also offered other opportunities for students to win raffles with a swipe of their Mavcard at the check-in desk.
Alaina Wallick, Student worker at UNO said, “They can get a free diploma frame and a free cap and gown or a 50-dollar credit to Jostens.”
Meanwhile, other raffles offered at the Graduation Expo included a $25 gift card to Hy-Vee, a gift card to the UNO bookstore, candies and First National Bank swag said Smith.
Overall, the UNO bookstore Graduation Expo was a great place for students graduating to have fun and build comradery with other departments at UNO, said Chelsie Hansen, business manager at UNO.
