The rector of the Notre Dame says he plans to close the Paris cathedral for up to six years.
The 850-year-old medieval building was undergoing renovations when it caught fire Monday, according to CNN. It took nine hours to extinguish the fire, which damaged much of the roof of the Catholic church and caused the spire to collapse.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
