Julio’s Jalapeno Bacon Guacamole appetizer added a flavorful spin on a beloved Mexican favorite served with a mixture of corn and flour chips. Topped with a cilantro lime butter, Julio’s Caren Asada entrée provided a well-balanced meal over spinach with a sweet corn poblano on the side. A sweet, zesty treat made with a creamy pie filling and chocolate pie crust; Julio’s Lime Pie dessert offered a delicious surprise for community over Omaha Restaurant Week. An added bonus for just $7 during Omaha Restaurant Week was Julio’s Cucumber Infused Margarita. With a refreshing taste and salty rim this mysterious margarita mix paired well with other foods provided on the menu. Julio’s colorful combination of the Jalapeno Bacon Guacamole, Lime Pie and Carne Asada gave Mexican food lovers a place to go during Omaha Restaurant Week. With melted Jack cheese, red onions, grilled chicken and barbecue sauce, barbecue Chicken Lavosh was one of the three appetizers offered on Taxi’s Omaha Restaurant Week menu. Taxi’s salmon entrée was topped with horseradish and lemon caper butter served with a Dijon crusted basmati rice-veggies. A dessert that Taxi’s included on their Omaha Restaurant Week menu was a Sour Cream pound cake. The pound cake was served with homemade whipped cream, strawberry glaze, and fresh strawberries. General manager of Stokes West restaurant, Matt Warren, said that the reason that they participate in Omaha Restaurant Week is because it’s for a good cause and it gives his chef’s a chance to shine and be creative with the menu. Among the three appetizers specially made for Stokes West menu for Omaha Restaurant Week was an innovative take on a baked queso. The baked queso included an herbed goat cheese spread on a crostinis topped with a tomato salsa. An entrée Stokes West included on their Omaha Restaurant Week menu took a southwestern twist on a cowboy steak. The Cowboy Steak for this entrée was served with fingerling potatoes and cooked vegetables paired with a blackened sirloin steak. These Cheesecake Empanadas served with chocolate sauce were only one of the three desserts offered on Stokes West menu. The other two special desserts offered were a Salted Caramel Bread Pudding and a Mexican Chile Chocolate Ice Cream served with sweet flour chips. With a combination of spices and a multitude of flavors, Stokes West Menu for Omaha Restaurants Week offered a meal for every kind of food lover. Walking into the Julio’s Mexican Restaurant, community members were greeted by an Omaha Restaurant Week ‘special menu’ sign.
In honor of Omaha Restaurant Week, food lovers and restaurant owners helped celebrate local cuisine and end hunger.
For a weeklong celebration of food, community members were invited to enjoy a plethora of local cuisine. From American to Mexican to Asian dishes, Omaha’s restaurants banded together to create a variety of foods for every food lover and every price point.
Not only did the event brings community members and restaurants from around the metro to enjoy food, but it also allowed the proceeds to be donated toward the Food Bank for the Heartland. With 5% of the profits from each meal being donated, the Food Bank for the Heartland is one step closer to ending hunger in the Omaha community.
At the event, there were no tickets or passes required for those participating in Omaha Restaurant Week. Put into four categories from low to high prices, food lovers had their choice of dishes from $20 to $50 per plate.
Forty-three Restaurants from all over the metro came together to fight hunger in their community.
