The University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) enrollment has been growing steadily since it first opened as University of Omaha in 1908. Last year, the freshman class topped the enrollment numbers of each year before.
UNO continues to top off the enrolled students by increasing the number of graduate and undergraduate enrollment by over 1.300 students in the past ten years. Students that first started at the university soon noticed the differences between the schools they previously attended and UNO.
“Its really good because all of my classes are smaller and there’s definitely like a sense of community inside majors and concentrations,” former UNO student Kieren Carter said.
Throughout the years, UNO has become more than a commuter college, it is a place to grow and develop as a college student and adult.
“College teaches you a lot about yourself,” UNO student Claire Redinger said. “People always tell you that your worldview will be questioned as you get older, and mine has been over and over. I have changed and grown in a lot of ways since my freshman year, but I think I’ve learned mostly that everyone is just trying to figure out who they are, like I am.”
There are 15,526 students currently enrolled at UNO and the university is expecting around 3,000 new students for the 2020-2021 school year.
