Dinosaurs were brought to life at the Omaha Children’s Museum through a recent exhibit, “Diggin Dinos.” The exhibit combines the concept of construction and dinosaurs while giving children a chance to explore various STEM careers through interactive presentations and engineering challenges.
Chief Advancement Officer, Michelle Chartrand said Omaha Children’s Museum is the first to bring animatronic dinosaurs to Omaha 30 years ago, where the first exhibit became popular. Chartrand said they try to replicate the same success with different themes.
“We don’t want it to be the same exhibit every time,” Chartrand said. “So our education team, marketing, and fundraising teams try to think of what concepts and themes we haven’t explored yet and what would be age-appropriate for our audience and families who visit.”
The Omaha Children’s Museum is the most visited museum in the state of Nebraska with over 320,000 visitors annually. Chartrand projected the number for Diggin’ Dinos to be about 160,000 because of the popularity of their dinosaur exhibits.
Chartrand said the Children’s museum would make activities engaging for both parents and children in their exhibits whether they are temporary or permanent.
The exhibit will run through April 1, 2020.
