It looks like Crossroads Mall is finally undergoing redevelopment as fences are already up surrounding most of the mall. The redevelopment will cost five hundred billion dollars.
Two brothers reminisce about going to the mall with their mother, as they share their feelings on the development of the mall.
“I am a little iffy about it because like to me this mall is not that big, and you know, we barely have things in Westroads,” said Aspen Wills.
Aspen is a bit worried there will not be enough businesses to fill up space but he is hopeful that the new mall has unique stores that you cannot find anywhere else.
“I remember my mom taking us to Crossroads and it was one of the days when she had extra money and she gave us money and we bought toys from Target,” said Aspen. “We took inside, and we were walking around the Crossroads Mall and we came into Barnes and Noble. Like by far Barnes and Noble is my favorite store.”
Andre Wills thinks that when the mall first opens it could bring more business to the restaurant he works at. He is worried that the new mall is eventually going to have a negative impact on the stores in the area, as residents of Omaha will be more interested in the new Crossroads Mall.
“I am honestly kind of on the fence about it,” said Andre. “I like the fact their kind of doing something with this (because the mall) has not been used for a while now just because the mall has been dead.”
It seems both brothers are nostalgic for the old mall but are looking forward to the redevelopment in hopes that Barnes and Noble will return in the new mall.
