Football season is in full swing but depending on where you live will be the determining factor if you can enjoy a game in the stadium or not. This year, due to COVID, many fans have been left out of the stadium and into their living rooms to watch their team play.
The National Football League (NFL) said in a statement that they are allowing that decision to be made up by the stadium, state/city and team. Current super bowl champion, the Kansas City Chiefs are allowing for fans to go in the stadium as well as tailgating.
Football fan Walter Decanio flew in from New Jersey to attend the game since that was his birthday present, and also because no fans are allowed to be in the stadiums in New York and New Jersey. He said, “It’s a tough you got to do what you got to do, safety first always, you got to hope that stuff lightens up a little bit so we can hit normalcy soon.”
Many things have changed from tailgating leading to the stadium. The Kansas City Chiefs are only allowing 22 percent of its normal capacity into the stadium, and tailgating has also changed separating the parking spaces between each vehicle.
Fans are required to wear mask inside the stadium, unless eating or drinking. Hand sanitizing areas are visibly seen everywhere throughout the stadium for fans to use. You can also see cleaning crews wiping down frequently touched areas.
No cash will be accepted, parking and tickets should be purchased beforehand, no paper tickets. Tickets for the stadium are in pod seating to ensure that you are with your group and each pod is spaced out. Entry to the stadium has changed into zones so there won’t be any cross continuations between people.
Your temperature is taken before entering the stadium as well as previous safety protocols. Fans are encouraged not to come if they feel ill. Every fan has agreed to enter the stadium at their own risk of getting exposed to COVID-19.
