The Nebraska Humane Society is no stranger to critters of all sizes. This past Saturday, it opened its arms to many more.
Pam Wiese, the vice president of public relations and marketing at the Humane Society, was excited to host the low-cost clinic event sponsored by Caring for All Pets.
“I think that her services are very well received because I do believe that there are some people that are ‘wow, if I can save some money I am going to go do it.’ And then there are people that are like ‘wow I can actually afford to do this.’ So regardless of what economic situation you’re in, it provides a really good service for people who are looking for vaccinations,” Pam said.
The vaccines that were offered included rabies shots, Kennel Cough, Distemper Combo shots, feline Leukemia and microchipping.
Locals lined up with over an hour wait to receive their reduced-cost annual pet vaccines and other preventative care. Anthony Miranda, accompanied by his dog Jake, said he wasn’t expecting such a large turn-out.
“I was told about it this morning. I said ‘hey, that’s a good deal.’ But, uh, next time I think I would have paid for the vet,” said Anthony.
However, he also said he thought it was worth getting Jake out to see other dogs and understands the need for proper pet vaccinations.
“Oh yeah, I think it’s very important for the health of the dog also to get their shots just like us,” said Anthony.
The Humane Society will host the event again this March, just in time to complete vaccinations before licensing is due.
