As Omaha has faced a continuing housing crisis, inventory of more houses for sale continues to improve.
Omaha residents looking to purchase housing property in Omaha may have struggled during the past year due to inventory issues. In the month of Sept. 2021, a 1.4 percent increase in new listings provided more options for home buyers.
This is a 9.5 percent decrease in homes for sale compared to Sept. 2020, while a 6.3 percent change in median closed price in all properties.
Megan Bengtson, 2022 Omaha Area Board of Realtors President revealed the importance of these numbers to Omaha residents looking to purchase a house.
“This is increasing hope for, you know, housing inventory out there,” said Bengtson.
Alex Summa, a prospective Omaha home buyer, is concerned with this increase.
“Hopefully it will, but I don’t know with the current status of our economy if that’s going to affect the housing market in the foreseeable future,” said Summa.
The Omaha housing market also saw a median closed price increase of 16.3 percent for new construction with a 11.4 percent for existing homes.
As more resources and equipment become available, new construction overviews and projects will increase, giving more Omaha residents a better chance of buying a home.
Bengtson also emphasized the importance of more inventory to change the game for the city of Omaha.
