OMAHA, Neb. – Data from influencer marketing platform “Upfluence” said TikTok has the highest social media engagement rate per post.
TikTok has over one billion monthly active users according to Wallaroo Media, and the average user spends about 95 minutes per day on the app. Its popularity has grown so large that other apps have copied its format.
Creative Media Specialist Izzy Pineda said YouTube Shorts, Snapchat Spotlight and Instagram Reels are all inspired by TikTok’s fast-paced vertical video scrolling.
Izzy manages the social media for UNL Sports. She said the men’s gymnastics team (@nebraskamensgym) has gotten more success on TikTok than other platforms.
She said TikTok’s algorithm makes the app different than the rest.
“You can have one good TikTok and you can have millions of views by the next morning and that’s something really cool. That’s not necessarily something that’s as common on Facebook or Instagram or Twitter,” said Pineda.
Omaha Comedian Cameron Logsdon (@cameronlogsdon) said his success skyrocketed once he became a content creator on TikTok. Cameron has over 764k followers and 16 million likes due to his celebrity and cartoon impressions.
Cameron said the app enabled the opportunity to showcase his talents globally.
“I’ve filmed some TV shows. I’m getting a lot of voice-over work. I even got to audition for Saturday Night Live, which was like a dream come true all without having to move out of the state of Nebraska. It’s unheard of,” said Logsdon.
Cameron said his goal is to continue getting better at a variety of performing arts, and that includes posting on TikTok. You can view his official website at https://www.cameronlogsdon.com/
