The event, which drew one of the largest turnouts this season, was a testament to the strong connection between the team and its supporters.
The day was packed with festivities, including fan giveaways, meet-and-greet sessions with players, and a special halftime tribute to Omaha’s most loyal supporters. The energy was palpable as fans, donning team colors and waving banners, filled the stands to celebrate a team that’s brought renewed excitement and success to Omaha’s sports scene.
Union Omaha’s goalkeeper, Rashid Nuhu, shared what the fans mean to him, both on and off the field.
“I always keep saying this, and they’ll probably think I’m just gaslighting them, but they’re the best fans in the league. No doubt about that, and we need them coming into playoffs,” Nuhu said with a smile. “I know it’s gonna be cold, but we need them to come out and support us, cause they make a big change in our games.”
The support seemed to lift the players, as Union Omaha three goals en route to a commanding 3-1 victory over Central Valley Fuego. The crowd erupted in cheers as the goals rolled in, energizing the stadium and creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
Head Coach Dominic Casciato also reflected on the fans’ impact on the team.
“They mean everything. They give us a boost when we need it. They lift us when we need it. So to be able to celebrate here in front of them today is really special. They mean the world to us, so it’s a really special moment,” Casciato shared.
At the game’s end, the players made a point of acknowledging their loyal fan base, taking a victory lap around the stadium as a gesture of appreciation.
