New Ways, New Works Festival Enters its Second Week

By Abigail Gocek OMAHA, Neb.- UNOTheatre’s latest production, New Ways New Works is a two-week festival celebrating the arts both on campus and in the Omaha community. The festival enters its second week with new events each night.

“It’s about seeing how performance and story really echoes throughout all of the things that we do throughout Weber Fine Arts and in the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media,” said Theatre Unit Coordinator Jennifer Sheshko Wood.

The festival is open to the public. UNO students will gain free admission with their Mavcard, while others may purchase a ticket. Due to a collaboration with the Maverick Food Pantry, canned goods or pantry items may also be donated for admission.

“With this being a pay-what-you-can and also a donation entry, we’re able to get so much more of a variety of items to offer at the pantry,” Festival lighting designer and Maverick Food Pantry volunteer, Adrian Ossenkop said. “This ensures that people are able to find something that they can eat.”

The events guests can expect in the second week of the festival include poetry, improv, cabaret, a play in a day and a performance of a new play written by UNO adjunct professor, Charlene Donaghy. The play, 4AM Friends, will be performed this Sunday at the Weber Fine Arts Building.
