By Paxton DeVault, OMAHA, Neb. – Big changes are underway at Omaha Eppley Airfield in order to enhance the airport experience for travelers, in and out of state. From closed terminals to construction detours, heres what you need to know.
Travelers in and out of Omaha are experiencing a new reality as construction takes over Eppley Airfield. This multi-year renovation project is going to bring new experiences and memories to families, as well as staff members of the airport, but for now, it may cause travel concerns for many.
Eppley Airfield has recently closed off the North and South terminals from the inside, which means travelers have to exit the building in order to get to another terminal. In addition, construction continues around the airport, leading to delays and detours. These concerns can make it difficult for travelers to make their flights or to even find their way around the airport.
Council Bluffs native, Sam Shanno shares his travel concerns for the future.
“I’m going to be traveling back and fourth between states for work hopefully I’m able to get use to the changes in the terminals.”
While these changes may seem inconvenient now, but there is a silver lining to the updates. Eppley Airfield will be the home of several new restaurants, like Pitch and The Mill Coffee and Tea, as well as, old faces like Runza and Panda Express. There will also be a selection of gift shops and even feature a bookstore.
With two years ahead of finalizations, passengers will need to plan ahead give themselves plenty of extra time to navigate between terminals. The end result promises a brighter future for the airport and its travelers.
