Omaha Christian High School to Open in 2025, Bringing New Faith-Based Education to the Metro

By Isaac Nielsen, OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha’s educational landscape is expanding with the launch of Omaha Christian High School, a new non-denominational faith-based institution set to open in the fall of 2025. The school is a collaboration between Omaha Christian Academy (OCA) and Lifegate Christian School (LCS) and aims to provide families with an alternative to public education.

A Vision for Faith-Based Learning

According to Christi Krehbiel, Head of School, the idea for Omaha Christian High School was born out of a strategic planning session three years ago.

“We decided that there is not a non-denominational Christian high school in the city of Omaha that is the size that is scaled to our city. We wanted to provide that for families of faith who are looking for alternatives to public education,” she said.

The new high school will offer a biblically immersive educational experience designed to connect classroom learning with real-world applications. “We’re trying to connect what they’re learning with how they are supposed to be living in the world and what they are being called to vocationally in our community,” Krehbiel explained.

A Rapid Construction Timeline

The school will be located west of I-680 and Maple Street, where OCA and LCS have secured a building and 19 acres of adjacent land. Construction is moving quickly to meet the ambitious goal of opening in just nine months. John Parsons, the senior project manager overseeing the build, confirmed that the project remains on schedule.

“We started demolition in January, we started the actual build-out and framing of the building in February and March, and things are on track. We continue to be on schedule to be able to open our doors by September 2, the day after Labor Day,” Parsons said.

While constructing a school typically takes several years, the team is working under an accelerated timeline.

“Normally, construction to build a school or build a building would take maybe a couple of years, and we were trying to do this in nine months. So, every subcontractor, everybody’s under the roof of this building, and they’re all working together simultaneously. I guess that’s unusual, but not impossible,” Parsons said.

Capacity and Community Impact

Once completed, Omaha Christian High School will have an initial capacity for 312 students, with long-term plans to expand and serve up to 600 students across its 26-acre campus. The school is expected to draw students from 30 to 50 different churches in the Omaha area, creating a diverse yet faith-centered educational community.
