By Paxton DeVault, OMAHA, Neb. – From a majestic monarch butterfly to a beautiful hummingbird hovering over a flower, the Sean Kenney Nature Connects exhibit at Lauritzen Gardens features 18 extraordinary sculptures built from just LEGOs.
With more than 275,000 LEGO bricks, this vibrant and spirited exhibit not only conveys the beauty of nature but highlights the connections between living creatures that support our ecosystems.

Lauritzen Gardens is a 100-acre garden hidden in the heart of Omaha with over 20 different themed gardens. The LEGO exhibits are woven into the home of the plants, with signs featuring educated descriptions. Hands-on activities are also available for children, encouraging them to participate in the fun.
Omaha resident, Kendall Luna, says her experience as she visits the gardens for the first time with her children.
“I saw they had a LEGO exhibit here and the girls were really excited to come see it so after kindergarten round up this morning we drove over and took the tram all the way down to the rose garden,” Kendall says. “It has been really cool. I’ve seen some amazing things today.”
Local traveler, Amanda Arkfeld, is new to the area, and has never experienced Lauritzen Gardens.
“This is my first time at Lauritzen Gardens and I was very blown away. It’s very well curated. I’m excited to come back when the outdoor garden center reopens.”
Arkfeld’s mother-in-law, Sara Strattan, expresses her love for the LEGO exhibit, as she is an Omaha native.
“I am from Omaha and I have been here many times and the LEGO exhibit is one of my favorites. The gift shops are one of the best parts, too.
Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects exhibit runs now until May 18, with daily hours from 9am. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. You can find tickets online at lauritzengardens.org or on-site for $15 per adult, $13 for seniors and veterans, and $9 ages 3-12. The outdoor garden center will also reopen early fall of 2025.
