Omaha Kings and Queens build community connection beyond the pitch

OMAHA Neb. – At Baxter Arena, the Omaha Kings and Omaha Queens are building more than just a soccer team — they’re building a connection with the Omaha community.

During home games, the experience goes beyond what happens on the field. Before kickoff, players walk through the tunnel as their names echo across the arena while kids line the walls with their hands stretched out for high-fives. After the game, players stay to sign autographs and take photos with fans.

For Kings player Manuel Lira, representing Omaha is something he takes pride in.

“It’s an honor to represent the Omaha Kings,” Lira said. “Being part of this community and representing soccer here is a great feeling.”

The connection between the team and the community is something the organization has made a priority. From youth players getting the chance to practice with the team to families filling the stands at Baxter Arena, the club continues to grow its presence in the city.

Head coach Emmanuel Viel said creating opportunities for young athletes is a key part of the program’s mission.

“We have a vision, we have a mindset, and we want Omaha and the next generation to have this opportunity that most people never have,” Viel said. “This city means everything to us, especially the next generation. The Kings and Queens are part of our community, and we care a lot.”

As both teams continue their season, the goal remains the same — grow the game of soccer in Omaha and inspire the next generation of players.

At Baxter Arena, the message is simple: in Omaha, soccer is more than just a game — it’s about community.
