The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Teaching Research and Inquiry-based Learning (TRAIL) Center partners with colleges and other departments in the region to engage undergraduates with STEM.
With hundreds of collaborators and staff at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and others across the nation, the new STEM TRAIL Center is meant to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals said Nealy Grandgenett, Community Chair of STEM Education.
Members of the STEM team are working together to build programs and activities with impact, such as their pedagogy series, which takes place the first Friday of every month.
The goal of the Pedagogy Series is to bring professors from UNO and other universities together for a discussion of the best approaches to STEM education.
“We do have a variety of professional development opportunities for faculty to develop new curriculum,” said Patrick Rault, Haddix Community Chair of Mathematics and assistant director of the STEM TRAIL Center.
Involved with outreach programs at UNO, the STEM TRAIL Center and UNo Faculty partner with public schools in the Omaha region to engage a younger audience to STEM.
“It’s really a way for the community to get engaged with the campus,” said Christine Cutucache, Director of The STEM TRAIL Center. “Its really brings an opportunity to engage with STEM professionals.”
