Awaiting a shot from Cupid’s bow, thousands from throughout the metro are rushing to find that loved one the perfect set of flowers. With approximately 224-million roses grown annually for Valentine’s day, countless stores around the U.S. rush to build their flower inventory to meet holiday demands.
Opened by Iowa native Brenda Veasman in 2004, Flowerama on Pacific in Omaha, Neb. has found that it has become one place in particular that many in the Omaha area flock to this time of year and has a long experience in dealing with this holiday.
“I would say close to 70. At least 70 hours for Valentine’s week alone. We’re just busy. We get here early and sometimes we’re here until 11, sometimes midnight,” said Susan Pfeifer, Floral Designer at Flowerama.
Initially opened in Nebraska as a franchise location over a decade ago, the business has since expanded its presence with two new locations in the Omaha area on 86th and Dodge St and 148th and Maple St. Expanding with it, the skills and specialties associated with it.
Store Owner Brenda Veasman and her team are specialized in multiple levels of floral design, including AIFD (American Institute of Floral Designers), NAFD(Nebraska Academy of Floral Design), and IMF(Iowa Master Florist).
Despite the workload and pressure put upon them this time of year, Veasman and her team still understand and remember the reasons behind the holiday.
“Valentine’s day is just a day full of love and telling the people in your life that you love them and that you care about them and like them. It’s a great day!,” said Veasman.
