OMAHA – The Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance is a non-profit organization centered in Omaha, so being hit with something new does not happen very often. This pandemic is definitely something new and Manager of Finances, Ian Sheets, says it has impacted them in quite a few ways.
“In terms of construction, interventions and things like that we have had to work really close with our contractors to make sure they are being safe, and not exposing our clients at the same time,” Sheets said.
The Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance excels at helping families make connections between health and housing issues. They connect clients to home repair services to further reduce health and safety risks.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a safe and heathy home, and in this environment, that can be especially tricky, but you can be sure they are doing their best.
“If a home in any way is affecting a child’s health or future, or any of the residents’ health or future, quality of life, anything like that, then we would say that home is not healthy,” he said.
This non-profit organization has been around for some time now, but every organization experience change. Manager of community engagement, Shelby Larson, says that is no different for them.
“I would say that incorporating more of that education piece both in homes and then outwards in the community,” Larson said.
