Ben Sasse, election 2020

OMAHA – Senator Ben Sasse is a fifth-generation Nebraskan born in Plainview, Neb., and raised in Fremont, Neb. He has served as the Nebraska state senator representing the Cornhusker state since 2015.

Ben is married to his wife, Melissa, together they have a total of three kids, Corrie, Alex, and Breck, who are often seen accompanying their dad on their weekly commute from Nebraska to Capitol Hill.

At the age of 37, Ben was the youngest college president in the nation. He spent five years leading Midland University. The 130-year-old college was close to going bankrupt but became one of the nation’s fastest growing college just three-years later.

In 2013 and 2014, Sasse and his family campaigned vigorously in a tottering campaign bus taking the winning votes from all 93 Nebraska counties.

Senator Ben Sasse has written two books – one called The Vanishing American Adult. The second book is called, Them: Why We Hate Each Other–And How to Heal, both of these books became bestselling in the nation.

In The Vanishing American Adult book, Sasse describes Americans as “a drifting and aimless people — awash in material goods and yet spiritually aching for meaning.”

Sasse said that parents should take control of their adolescent’s schooling, and argues that they need to work hard, resist consumerism, read widely and live for a while in a place different from their home, although not too far from home.

Ben believes in the holiness of life. He wants to change the abortion law, he said that, “Some babies, especially late in gestations, and survive attempted abortions. We know too that some of these babies are left to die.” Ben is working on his fight against Planned Parenthood. I took a drive up to Midland University and drove around the Freemont area not finding a Ben Sasse campaign sign insight. Which was a surprise being that is Senator Sasse’s hometown.
