Kara Eastman’s run for District 2

by Rebecca Weis, reporter

Kara Eastman is a 2020 Congressional candidate for District 2. Eastman has worked in the non-profit and local community sectors for over 20 years. Eastman believes that this experience has made her qualified for this position.

“I always felt like, I wished our elected officials, the members of our federal delegation would have called upon me for my expertise in housing, public health, lead poisoning prevention and that didn’t really happen,” said Eastman.

Along with Immigration, Education and income equality, some major points Eastman wants to address is racial injustice and jobs in the economy. Eastman hopes to achieve these goals by creating an equity plan.

“So, we created an equity plan based on the experience and expertise I have,” said Eastman. Eastman’s equity plan establishes points of housing policy, jobs and economy, education policy, transportation and mobility, and public health.

Kara Eastman is all for solving the racial injustice our country has seen and experienced. She hopes to accomplish this by creating advocacy groups here in the Omaha community.

“So, I have pledged to create an advisory group. Let’s find ways to actually interact with the community moving forward and we need liaisons. So, I would like to create an advisory committee, a number of them actually, but one specifically to address the racial injustice in our community,” said Eastman.

Eastman hopes to win the 2020 election over her opponent Don Bacon come Nov. 3rd. For more information on Kara Eastman Equity plan and her points of view, you can visit Eastman for Congress.com.
