Omaha Food Lovers Facebook group rescues local business

Many local Nebraska businesses have been hit hard by the ongoing pandemic. It was no different for Master’s Hand owner Susie Robinson. Luckily for her, she had extra help from the owner of Omaha Food Lovers group on Facebook, Stacy Winters. Robinson claimed that if not for this groups’ help her business would have gone under a long time ago.

“It was a tough go, there was no doubt about it,” Robinson said. “March, April, May June –they were all really tough months. Then the Omaha Food Lovers group came into the picture, and, as you saw today, the whole dining room was full.”

The Omaha Food Lovers group is 50,000 members strong and is still going, explained Winters. Winters told reporters that the idea behind starting the group was because there was no other group like it in the Omaha area.

Winters also explained that his business got so large, he believed there was a need to expand his group outward into other Nebraska communities.

“We saw a need for restaurants to get out their specials, you know what they’re offering, and it became a really good tool for that,” said Winters.

Members of the Facebook group still continue to flock to small Nebraska businesses in order to help them out. Because of the help of these Facebook groups and other local Omaha residents, these small businesses are in safe hand for the foreseeable future.

Both Robinson and Winters said they are hopeful for the future of their groups and business and are hoping to see continued growth for many more months to come.
