As Omaha is home to many events, finding a guaranteed parking spot can be challenging for Omaha drivers.
Omaha drivers looking to use Park Omaha’s new technology in the Park Mobile app will gain the ability to find and reserve a parking space at dedicated parking garages numerous days before the planned event.
Ken Smith, Parking and Mobility Manager, said there is some crucial information for users of the app.
“I know up front where I need to drive to, it helps I’m not circling the block looking for a parking space,” Smith said.
The guaranteed parking space at select parking garages will leave Omaha drivers finding their unique parking space, then off on their way.
Matthew Collins, Omaha resident, said he appreciates the benefits of Park Mobile.
“It’s been very beneficial because finding a parking spot in a crowded event can be pretty tedious at times,” Collins said.
If anyone using the Park Mobile app misses the opportunity to reserve a parking space, the downtown area still holds street parking for Omaha drivers.
Although a dedicated parking spot can be reserved, a specific spot is not available to Omaha drivers who reserve a parking space on the Park Mobile app.
The app also tells users the price and the arrival time of the event they are parking for, as well as the distance to the event.
Smith said they’re looking at how a parking ecosystem works in Omaha, both on and off the street with mobility fitting in.
The Park Mobile app can be downloaded for free on the Apple and Google Play stores.
