OMAHA, Neb. – The Eagles Ballroom, a historic venue in Omaha, has geared up to celebrate the 20th anniversary of hosting Jitterbugs Night Out. This weekly dance event has been a regular occurrence at the venue almost every Friday night since it started in 2003. On October 20, 2023, the Eagles Ballroom marked two decades of dancing and memories.
Jared Dominguez, a dedicated volunteer instructor at Jitterbugs, was a testament to the event’s lasting impact. For the past six years, he has worn the same suit every Friday night, demonstrating his commitment to the dance community.
Reflecting on his first night at Jitterbugs, Dominguez said, “The energy was infectious; it was amazing.”

Dominguez’s journey as a volunteer was rooted in a desire to give back to the organization that provided him with a welcoming place to dance. Lindsay Sobczyk, Executive Director of Jitterbugs, commented on their partnership with the Eagles Club.
“[it is] a really special partnership that is super mutually beneficial to both of us,” Sobczyk said.
In the broader context of the live music and dance scene, Live Nation, the parent company of Ticketmaster, reported a 38 percent increase in ticket sales in 2022, indicated a resurgence of interest in live music and dance events. Dominguez encouraged newcomers to join Jitterbugs, highlighting the welcoming atmosphere.
“We would love to share the joy,” Dominguez said.
