Legacy Chophouse Strengthens Community Ties with Millard United Softball Sponsorship

By Peighton Yoakam , OMAHA, Neb—Legacy Chophouse, a newly opened modern-rustic steakhouse, is quickly making a name for itself—not just for its locally sourced menu but for its commitment to community involvement. Since opening its doors in November 2024, following the closure of Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse, Legacy Chophouse has embraced the metro area by giving back, particularly to youth sports programs like Millard United.

Supporting the Next Generation of Athletes

Millard United offers youth sports programs for players of all abilities, focusing on confidence, teamwork, and skill development. The organization’s fast-pitch softball league uses special age-appropriate rules to ensure a fun and competitive environment for young athletes. Parents have the flexibility to allow their children to “play up” a level for a greater challenge, but players cannot move down.

Recognizing the dedication of parents and volunteers who make these programs possible, Legacy Chophouse saw an opportunity to contribute. Their sponsorship directly funds equipment, tournament fees, and field expenses for Millard United softball teams.

A Commitment to Giving Back

Sara Mangiameli, General Manager at Legacy Chophouse, emphasized the restaurant’s dedication to supporting local initiatives.

“We’ve had just a lot of people approaching us because we’re so new, we haven’t had a whole lot of time to get our footprint out there. But for the most part, we focus on local causes—schooling, sports, Angels Among Us, Make-A-Wish—you name it. We just don’t say no and make it work.”

For Legacy Chophouse, sponsorship isn’t about business gains—it’s about building relationships and showing gratitude to the community that supports them. Mangiameli noted that parents of young athletes invest significant time and effort into youth sports, often on a volunteer basis. By being involved, Legacy Chophouse hopes to earn respect from those families while making a lasting impact.

Gratitude from Millard United

Millard United softball coach Kerry Tiffany expressed appreciation for Legacy Chophouse’s generosity.

“The generosity of it, it’s not about getting anything in return. We’ll put their name on our banner, but it’s not like they’re getting major exposure from this. They just want to help.”

Tiffany also shared how the donation directly benefits the team, covering essential costs like tournament entry fees, field rentals, and equipment.

“I think if I asked again, year after year, they would continue to be generous, because Legacy Chophouse takes care of its people, but I also think they like to take care of the community.”

Building a Legacy Beyond the Kitchen

In a short time, Legacy Chophouse has proven to be more than just a go-to spot for premium steaks. By actively investing in the local sports scene, the restaurant is laying the foundation for a lasting community connection.

As Millard United’s season unfolds, young athletes, coaches, and parents alike will see firsthand how businesses like Legacy Chophouse play a crucial role—not just in dining, but in building a stronger, more supportive community.
