OMAHA, Neb- North Omaha Music & Arts bring together a community to enjoy themselves with music.
As the nonprofit organization gathers to create an environment that makes people enjoyable, a lot of people who attend the center play music outside of it.
“Music has always been the best way for me to communicate to people that don’t share the same cultural thing as me” Upshaw said, “I can play music and someone from Africa, Asia, Russia, anywhere can listen to it and understand it, so it helped save my life, I want to be able to save someone else’s life with music as well”
As many people go to the event to sing, like Jewel Rogers, who is a poet, or setting up the events to play music in general, many look to make North Omaha Music & Arts a special place to be. Like Dana Murray, who is the executive Director of NOMA.
“We’ve been putting on events in the building now for four years” Murray says, “so we’ve been around for five years so the musician that used to come in the beginning you can definitely see the growth in them just having an outlet to come and work on your craft to be around musician to work on their craft.”
North Omaha Music & Arts is the special place for all musicians who want to either work on their craft and evolve it, or to listen to others and create this beautiful area that connects all people together in one place for everyone.
