Avengers: Endgame is highly anticipated weeks before release

“It’s the finale of it all. It’s the end,” said Marvel fan Logan Wilkinson.

22 movies, dozens of characters, and $18 billion grossed worldwide in ticket sales, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the highest-grossing film franchise in history, and it may finally have some sort of conclusion with “Avengers: Endgame.”

While not the last in the series, many of the character’s storylines and movies have lead up to this finale.

“We hopefully see the end of, and hopefully Marvel please don’t screw it up, we see the end of Captain America’s storyline. We see the end of Tony Stark. We see the end of these characters we’ve seen grow, evolve, and fall,” says Wilkinson.

“Endgame” holds the best first-day U.S. sales record for online ticket purchases, beating “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and many theaters nationwide have sold out of day one tickets. While it may be difficult to attend on opening night, local theaters are making sure Omaha residents are having a unique experience.

“We actually have merch items that are tied to ticket purchases,” says Derek Dillon, Creative Director for Almao Drafthouse’s Omaha locations. “We’re also actually going to have a special food menu as well with food items tied directly to avengers.”

After so many movies and hours watched, this conclusion means a lot to fans.

“There’s 22 films leading up to this which has never been done before. It’s crazy to see this all come to an end,” says Dillon.
