With the supposed talk going around the prosperity of the current United States Economy and infrastructure. One aspect that people have yet to discuss is the percentage of veterans who have become homeless or addicted to drugs with their homecoming from serving overseas.

As of 2017, approximately Forty-thousand Americans veterans were found to be homeless in any part of the United States, according to metro.us. This brings up the reality how this group has somehow been forgotten by the United States Government.

One thing that these veterans had yet to realize are the benefits their service has for them regarding their education… within the Student population of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, there are approximate 2000 military veterans or dependents. This shows the reach and impact, UNO has for student throughout the region.

Due to their efforts, the university of Nebraska has been ranked top 5 schools across the nation as the best school for veteran students.

We strive to help make our office a fun and welcoming place for service members from across the area,” said Kirsten Omoto, Co-Interim Director of Student Success.

Through her help, the UNO office of military and veteran services has helped give these students a chance to start over after leaving a world that has helped shape their life to come.
