New ORBT buses expand Omaha’s public transport

OMAHA – The Omaha Metro Area Transit Company has expanded their services to the public. The rapid bus transit will be their third service that will offer the community a faster commute to and from their different destinations.

The ORBT bus stations will give passengers a more modern feel, with updated arrival and departure time screens. The stations will also have announcers announce when the next bus will be arriving. Tickets can be purchased from the stations or local stores that are partnering with ORBT.

The ORBT bus will replace route 2 which travels from West-Roads mall into the downtown area. The ORBT bus will connect to Omaha’s busiest corridor education, employment, neighborhoods, hospitals, recreations and so much more. The bus will accommodate all walks of life.

All ORBT platforms are raised to match the height of the bus so it is an easy way to get on an off the bus for wheelchairs and strollers. ORBT also allows bikes on board so you no longer have to put your bike in the front of the bus, it can ride along with you.

There is a total of 10 buses right now which seats 40 sitting passengers and standing room for others. By adding the ORBT bus to the additional metro transit services, it will allow for busses to arrive every 10 minutes. The metro transit is doing its best to keep passengers and drivers safe during this COVID-19 pandemic.
