Political season is here and with it comes the surge in political advertisement

OMAHA – With over 440,000 registered voters in Nebraska, we took to the streets of Omaha to ask residents how they feel about this election’s political campaign ads.

“I’m over it,” said resident Sarah Lewis, and other residents believe that political campaign ads lack the truth.

We aren’t just taking the word on the street, after speaking with the two candidates of the second congressional district campaigns candidate Kara Eastman said, “Raising money for TV ads is just ridiculous and people are tired of it.” Eastman also mentioned that donors are sick of getting asked, and although she is grateful for the support, the money should go towards something more important.

Kyle Clark, political director of Don Bacon’s campaign, stated that both political parties have spent a good amount on political ads referencing the amount to be in the millions on both sides between the campaign and outside groups who support the campaigns.

We also spoke with the candidates’ campaigns about attack ads both candidates claim to be sticking to addressing policy issues only. Kyle Clark said, “We’ve run some contrast ads but we’ve not launched any attack ads against Kira Eastman and we don’t intend to. We don’t need to attack her; we can talk about her policies and how disastrous they would be.”

Kara also claims that she doesn’t want anyone attacking her opponents in a personal way but she believes that putting out policies, and showing the bad policies that her opponent supports is “fair game.”
