OMAHA, Neb. – Netwar 40.0 a 29-hour gaming LAN event took place past weekend, none of it would have been possible without the incredible staff of volunteers who came together to bring the Omaha gaming community a place to play together.

Netwar’s Founder and President Travis Kreikemeier shed some light on what it takes to bring an event this large together.

“So, all the staff that help organize the event are all volunteers so doing it out of the kindness of our hearts for the gaming community, but a lot of time and effort hundreds of man hours goes into planning designing preparing for the event,” he said.

Netwar hasn’t had many issues with recruiting new volunteers, but it is ever expanding and as the event grows so does the need for more helpers.

Travis said, “So really for a lot of the majority of volunteers that we need help with is setup and tear down that’s the bulk of the manpower we need.”

One Volunteer Tom White shared why he eventually became a permanent staff member for Netwar.

“My first Netwar was Netwar 13 as an attendee and then I just started getting involved shooting photos for the event and then volunteered more and more,” Tom said.

Netwar is a nonprofit organization whose proceeds go to help bring gaming entertainment to local hospital patients through Gamers Outreach. Volunteers know that their time goes to a good cause. More information on how to get involved can be found at netwar.org
