LINCOLN, Neb.- A Nebraska tattoo artist overcomes the challenges that come with paving the way to a job doing what she loves with hard work and perseverance.

Delaney Ashmore is a Lincoln local who has caught her stride, hopeful to make a career out of her art. Ashmore is one of the newest members on the team at Real Fame Tattoo in Lincoln, Nebraska.

But the path there wasn’t as easy as putting a needle to the skin.

“You have to learn how to be able to transfer what you’re making onto other people’s skin. Not just that, but every little part that goes into tattooing is a whole process that you have to learn.”

Aside from giving the tattoo, the young artist also had to deal with the stigma that comes with making it your life work. Also, is the trials and tribulations of finding a shop and clients. Which can be difficult, especially for a female making her way into the industry.

According to Zippia, as of September 2022, only about 29% of tattoo artists in the U.S. are female.

That didn’t stop Ashmore from working day in and day out, while promoting her creations on her Instagram account.

“It wasn’t until not too long ago my co-worker Bella actually found my account and reached out to me”

Delaney seized the opportunity and proved she was the perfect fit.

She now continues her hard work in the shop, noting that with any form of art there’s always room for improvement.

Delaney would also like to give a special thanks to Claire and Ryan for inspiring her on her journey.
