Millard North Student had gun on him, but fight happens off campus

OMAHA, Neb – On Tuesday September 20th a student at Millard North High School was arrested off school grounds for having a loaded gun.

Millard North High school exceeds priority on the students and staff as their safety is number one to make sure nothing happens like a school shooting or anything for that matter.

The Principal Dr. Aaron Beringer of Millard North breaks downs on how people must be buzzed in before they get let into the school or office.

“Every single parent that gets or visitor comes up to Millard North will need to get buzzed in by security”, said Dr. Bearinger. “Ask them why they are here, they will be buzzed in the vestibule area, so they don’t have access to the school.”

Dr. Bearinger did not comment about the student with the gun, but he did say that a letter was sent out to the parents of Millard North.

Even though the student did get arrested and expelled for one year one staff member really wasn’t upset about the situation. Jana Geuorgius is a teacher and parent of a student at Millard North, and she says that she was proud that she was informed about the situation.

“I wasn’t worried I wasn’t upset I was thrilled that the school was informing us and as soon as they did so they were kept aware and did move off campus.” Said Jana. “It could have been here that the gun was it could of not, just don’t really know. But all and all I just feel safe all the time at Millard North, and I know my child is too, so I wasn’t really that upset.”

Even though Jana was not upset with the whole situation she did mention that overall, she is proud that Millard’s safety is the greatest she has seen.

Millard North is staying up with safety protocols everyday to make sure the students are safe and sound.
