UNO Offers Students Free Flu Vaccinations as Flu Season Begins

By: Brandon Kay

Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska at Omaha have come together to offer UNO students free flu shots throughout October.

Starting on October 1, and continuing throughout the 29, students can receive a free flu vaccine with the presentation of their Mavcard in room 206 of the H&K Building/Wellness Center.

From 3pm to 5pm on the 1, 7, 28, and 29 of October, students can walk in with no appointment to receive a flu shot. However, if these times don’t work, students can call and schedule an appointment for no additional cost.

Vaccines take upwards of two months to take full effect. For this reason, it is advised to receive your flu shot in October, allowing the vaccine to take effect in time for flu season in December.

Receiving a flu shot at the Health and Kinesiology Building on these days will also enter you into a raffle for a $25 Starbucks gift card from Nebraska Medicine.
