Men’s basketball player makes remarkable recovery

UNO men’s basketball player JT Gibson suffered a broken foot injury over the summer in June, forcing him to miss summer workouts.

Gibson describes it as “an injury within itself is just kind of mentally denouncing I feel like.

Going into my senior year and getting hurt and missed the offseason. It’s also a blessing in disguise I feel like to get my body some more rest to just prepare for another season.”

Gibson has made a remarkable recovery so far as the team just recently held their first practice of the season.

After losing two key players, Zach Jackson and Mitch Hahn, from last year’s team, Gibson looks to be one of the new leaders this season.

“It means a lot to me to be able to guide the new guys and the younger guys as a big bro,” Gibson said.

Coach Hansen said, “He does all of the right things most of the time, where he’s supposed to be and how we’re supposed to run things, but it’s his voice that our team needs probably more than anything, especially our young guys, he’s been doing that and I think he’s just going to continue to get better.”

The Mavericks men’s basketball team will open up their season on the road at Wichita State on Nov. fifth.
