Nil Ayat’s potential return

Omaha men’s soccer hasn’t had a banner year, to say the least. The Mavericks are 3-6-2 as of reporting, and one theory as to why is the absence of Nil Ayats. The Spanish midfielder, who was named to the Summit League All-Tournament team, suffered a meniscus tear in the spring which has caused him to miss the whole of this season so far.

Head coach Bob Warming has nothing but high praise for Ayats, saying “He’s a special talent in his passing ability, his range of passing, and his vision. He’s a great teammate, guys love him. And so not having him in the lineup this year, it’s not one of those things where you say well next guy go up and do it, because he has unique qualities.”

His hope upon returning is that he’ll be an even better player than he was in his freshman year. I think that when I came here, I didn’t have that work. So now, I think that when I’m gonna come back, I think I’m gonna be like a more complete player.

Ayats has been eyeing a return for Omaha’s Summit League clash on the 26th when the Mavericks take on arch-rival’s Denver in the Mile-High City.
