OMAHA – With just a few days to go the staff at Lauritzen Gardens are hard at work completing the display for this year’s holiday poinsettia show.

The display will represent a festive living room complete with a poinsettia tree, fireplace, pets, and a giant rug all constructed out of different types of flora said Mia, Jenkins the Director of Marketing for Lauritzen Gardens.

“The 20 foot tree is made up of about 700 individual plants this year for the first time at the beginning of the show they are calling it a confetti tree and it will have multiple varieties of poinsettia some that are solid and some that are speckled um but in a variety of color,” said Mia.

Bailley Liddick on the left and Victoria Schoell-Schafer on the right are creating a cat figure made out of cacti for this year’s holiday poinsettia show at Lauritzen Gardens on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020.

Thousands of plants were grown specifically for this event at their greenhouses which started back in June.

The event will be open to the public starting on November 21st through January 3rd, 2021 from 9 to 5 daily which should be just enough time to view everything the show has to offer.

“The holiday show will primarily be in the floral display hall which is our large room here and in the conservatory as well there will be touches of the season in there and then we have the family chill zone out on the festival garden patio,” said Mia.

At the patio, families can purchase their own s’more kits and participate in a few different games or check out the gift shop to pick up a festive souvenir but before stopping by remember to reserve a time slot so everyone can have a happy and healthy holiday season.

The 100-acre outdoor section of the gardens will also be open and available for people to explore the plant and animal life of the winter season.
